We understand that athletes and parents often have questions about our cheerleading programs—from practices and competitions to schedules and expectations. That’s why we’ve gathered the most common answers here to help make your Dakota Spirit experience easy, informed, and stress-free.

Dakota Spirit offers a multitude of classes and teams in cheerleading and tumbling. If you’re looking to join a cheerleading team, we have options for every commitment and budget level. At Dakota Spirit, we offer 3 distinct programs so athletes at all different skill and commitment levels can join. Our three signature programs are our Performance, Prep, and All-Star programs.

No, we have a place for everyone at Dakota Spirit! We have three different programs that are tailored to different commitment and experience levels.

We offer a variety of tumbling, flexibility, and cheer classes. If you’re not ready for the commitment of a team, we have a place for you in one of our classes. Our 4-week class sessions make our classes convenient to any lifestyle. Additionally, you can drop into any class!

Classes include tumbling and flexibility for all levels, ninja warrior, tiny tots, open gym, Friday Night Lights, and daycare and preschool field trips.

Half-Season Performance Teams

All-Star Elite Teams are for dedicated athletes ready to compete at the highest levels of cheerleading. This nationally recognized program features advanced skill training, elite coaching, year-round commitment, and travel to major competitions—while emphasizing character, leadership, and teamwork. All athletes on Performance, Prep, and All-Star Teams must purchase a uniform and a hair bow. Performance Teams are also required to purchase makeup. All-Star teams must purchase practice uniforms as well.

The teams in our Performance Program travel 1-3 times a year within 75 miles. All-Star teams travel about 4 times a year within the region and to 2/3 National Events that require a long bus trip and possibly a flight.

Our birthday parties are completely customizable to the the birthday boy or girl! We can design the birthday party of your child’s dreams. Typical parties include obstacle courses, trampoline time, and free play! You can bring any type of treat of décor to create a themed birthday party of your choice.

Competition schedules are sent 1–2 weeks before each event. If you have a conflict, email info@dakotaspirit.com and notify your coaches—adjustments may be possible. Performance teams don’t stay for awards; awards are encouraged for Prep and required for All-Star Prep and All-Star Elite unless excused.

For injuries requiring extended time off, a doctor’s note and return-to-activity clearance are required. For non-urgent injuries, contact our trainer Rochelle Lauret (Orthopedic Institute) at RochelleLauret@gmail.com—she’s available at the gym twice weekly and by appointment. This is a free service for DS athletes thanks to Orthopedic Institute.

Dakota Spirit Cheer Parents (DSCP) is our 501(c)(3) parent board that helps fund music, scholarships, camps, and clinics for all DS athletes. Admission fees from Showdown and Valentine’s Classic directly support DSCP efforts.

Occasionally, we’ll share links to purchase spirit-wear. These optional stores are a fun way to show your DS pride!

Private lessons offer personalized, one-on-one training with a DS Certified Coach or Tumble Tutor—perfect for athletes of any skill level. Each week, we email a sign-up sheet with available time slots. If you need to cancel, please email info@dakotaspirit.com at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged in full.
Should I choose a Tumble Tutor or an Instructor?
Tumble Tutors are trained Dakota Spirit athletes who specialize in Level 1 and Level 2 tumbling. They’re a great option for foundational skill-building and extra support between classes.For pricing and a breakdown of all lesson types, visit our Private Lessons page.

Tumble classes are optional and are offered for athletes to grow their skills. These classes are open to anyone ages 4 & up. You can find the available classes listed on GoMotion.

Fundraisers are an optional way to earn credits toward your athlete’s GoMotion account. Payouts vary and are offered throughout the year—we encourage all DS athletes to participate.
At times, Dakota Spirit Cheer Parents (DSCP) also host fundraisers to help offset gym costs like equipment, staff training, and guest coaches.

These fundraisers are a great way to earn credit for your athlete’s account. When available, a sign-up sheet will be sent out—just sign up, show up, and work. Payouts vary by event and are added to your account once the check is received from the event producer.
Registration

To register or sign up for a class or team online, you must first “register” on the website via GoMotion. When you find the class or team to sign up for, just click on the “Sign up Now” button and you will be taken to page where you will create a profile and get signed up.
In the future, you can just login and quickly sign up for classes and programs through GoMotion.
All class sign-ups or “registrations” take just one click to sign up.
During your website registration, you have the option to pay class registration via Card. Whatever you choose will be the default payment method for all future registrations for your child. All payments are due the first day of class/practice.

No, your payment is confirmed through GoMotion and you will need to contact Dakota Spirit. Payment will be due by the first day of class/practice. If you clicked “Register” by accident, please email info@dakotaspirit.com.

On your GoMotion account, you can add as many “members” as you need. They will be connected to your billing if you choose so.

Yes, but we encourage a check payment for FULL tuition.

No, parents are required to read and check the box for the Medical Waiver upon website registration. A hard copy will also be given to you to be signed at the first class/practice. We will keep this on file.
