There’s a place for every athlete — from those just starting out to those ready to compete at the highest level. Dakota Spirit teams help kids grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork while having fun and building lasting friendships. From local performance groups to nationally competitive All-Star cheer, each athlete is guided by experienced coaches who prioritize safety, development, and spirit.
Prep Teams
No experience required. These popular teams focus on skill development and fun. Athletes will focus on learning the basics of tumbling, stunting, and cheerleading, and show off their skills in local performances and competitions. The season begins in August and runs through April. It includes a weekly practice, a variety of local performances, 6-8 area competitions & a fun choreography clinic.
What to expect:
Experience Level: No experience required; great for beginners.
Commitment: One weekly practice; August–April season.
Highlights: Local performances, fun competitions, and skill development.

All-Star Prep Teams
Our All-Star Prep teams are a great bridge for those looking to take the next step towards a future competing on one of our All-Star teams! All-Star Prep teams will compete in the region and will do limited traveling to neighboring states. Athletes will practice twice a week.
What to expect:
Experience Level: Intermediate; ideal next step from Prep.
Commitment: One weekly practice and one tumble practice with limited regional travel.
Highlights: Competitive opportunities in neighboring states.

All-Star Elite Teams
Ready to be a part of All-Star Elite cheer? This program offers athletes the opportunity to travel as a team while competing against teams in the region and the nation. All-Star athletes will practice and compete throughout the year while growing individually and as a team. Athletes will be placed on a team through a try-out process.
What to expect:
Experience Level: Advanced; athletes selected by tryout.
Commitment: Year-round training and competitions.
Highlights: Travel teams competing regionally and nationally.

Half-Season Teams
No experience is needed for our Half-Season Performance teams. Open to boys and girls ages K-8, this popular half-season team is designed to teach the fundamentals of cheerleading. Athletes will learn cheerleading skills and a fun routine, including tumbling, dance, stunts, and more. The team will perform in 3 special events. Our Dakota Spirit mission is to promote the spiritual, physical, and mental development of youth through cheerleading.
What to expect:
Experience Level: Beginner-friendly for ages 5–12.
Commitment: Saturdays from 10–11:30 AM, January–April.
Highlights: Three special performances and foundational cheer skills.
Season starts: January 9, 2027
Performance Teams
Our Performance teams are a great place for kids who love the limelight. No experience is needed for these teams. These performance teams are low-cost, minimal time commitment, non-competitive, and include a maximum of five to six performances and one weekly practice! These popular teams are a good choice for the budget-conscious, busy family. The teams do require a low-cost uniform and bow. The season for our Performance League runs September-April.
What to expect:
Experience Level: Beginner, ages 3 to 9 years; no experience needed.
Commitment: Weekly practices, low-cost, September–April.
Highlights: Five to six performances; non-competitive and fun.
Registration opens: June 1, 2026
Cheer Abilities Team
There’s a place for every athlete — from those just starting out to those ready to compete at the highest level. Dakota Spirit teams help kids grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork while having fun and building lasting friendships.
What to expect:
Experience Level: Inclusive program for athletes of all abilities. Ages 5 and up.
Commitment: Weekly 45-minute practices.
Highlights: Paired with a buddy for encouragement and connection. Three to four non-competitive performances
